Sweet Potato Sesame Tahini Pie

I love this pie, not too sweet and the crust is amazing. Adapted from Bon Appetite Miso pie.

Sweet Potato Tahini Pie



  • 5oz Vanilla Wafers

  • 1 tablespoon cacao powder

  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder

  • 6 tablespoons butter

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup black sesame seeds


  • 15oz canned organic sweet potato (or cooked from 2-3 sweet potatoes)

  • 2 egg yolks and 1 whole egg

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

  • 3 tablespoons tahini

  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar



  1. Mix all the crust ingredients in a food processor

  2. Press into the pie tin (or mini tins), use the bottom of a measuring cup to help smooth out and press up the sides of the pie

  3. Put the pie into the freezer for 30 minutes

  4. Preheat oven to 350, bake for 20 minutes

  5. Pie crust can be made in advance


  1. Preheat oven to 300, in a bowl mix in the all filling ingredients, mix till smooth

  2. Pour into the pie tin(s)

  3. Bake 45 mins at 300

  4. Let cool for 1-2 hours

  5. Garnish options: powdered sugar, whip cream, cacao nips, sesame seeds
