I'm Kimber Morris and I'm a commercial food and beverage photographer living in Raleigh, North Carolina.
When I take photographs, I focus on the details. I love minimal so we can focus on the star of the photo - the drink, dessert, or savory dish. I'm a firm believer that simple is best. I like to try different styles when I shoot food. But I am always drawn to minimal, hard shadows and color.
The majority of my images are shot using artificial light.
My background in hospitality and project management makes planning photography shoots easier so I can focus more time on the image and client needs.
In most situations, I'm also preparing the drinks and food and styling, occasionally creating new recipes that I will share here.
My love for photography blossomed in 2016 while attending Escoffier Culinary School in Austin Texas. The school was an amazing experience. I loved learning the history of food and the best techniques to prepare it. Taste alone is not enough. We eat with our eyes too. We learned food styling the best ways to garnish with our mise en place as well as composition and the best options for plating. The last quarter of school was spent working on several farms. Meeting the farmers and learning their end to end process was fascinating. And actually doing it, was very hard work and rewarding.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband Steve and our miniature schnauzer Axel. We also love hiking, archery, and travel.
